A lot of people are talking about the similarities  of Richard Nixon’s firing Independant Special Prosecutor Archibald Cox, and that of Trumps firing of FBI Director James Comey. President Nixon ordered the Attorney General and the Deputy AG to fire the special prosecutor Archibald Cox, but they both refused. than Solicitor General Robert Bork agreed to fire the special prosecutor, resulting in the resignations of Attorney General Elliot Richardson and Deputy Attorney General William Ruckelshaus. Later in the years Robert Bork was nominated to the Supreme Count by Ronald Reagan. A man who violated all moral and legal obligations as an Solicitor General, and fired a special prosecutor that was just doing his job. Nominated to the highest court of the land. None the less he was certainly confirmable and technically qualified to be a Supreme Court Justice. Although during the confirmation hearings he stepped on his own tongue when asked how it would feel to be a Supreme Court Judge. He responded “it would be an intellectual feast” I assume he was trying to say all liberals are morons and all liberal values are naive at best. Even Republicans at the time could no longer support him after that revelation. He became the only Supreme Court nominee to not be confirmed by the Senate. But over time conservatives have become more and more adamant that liberal programs must be squashed. As we see by the budget proposed by President Trump. My point is we can no longer be the party that just protects the vulnerable. We must work hard to become the party that sees to it that there a lot less vulnerable. I believe we can accomplish that by seeing to it that we invest trillions in our public education system. A public school system that will empower our children to succeed under any circumstance. I look forward to be a part of that effort.
